  1. Most people who know me, know I’ll always be a Jersey Girl, have one daughter who has a 13-month old son (and another baby on the way) making me a very proud Nonni. I cherish my friends – both lifelong and recent (that’s you, Susan!)

I was diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer in 2009, but had almost 20 years at stage 1. Consequently, in some strange way, I consider myself blessed.

What most people don’t know about me is that I’m a proud alumna of Smith College where my major was English Language and Literature. While at Smith, I learned how to write and found my voice. Writing is a cathartic experience for me and has helped me realize that cancer will never define the woman I am.

At my funeral, I want the Carter Family’s song, “Will the Circle be Unbroken” and James Taylor’s “You Can Close Your Eyes” played as gifts to those I leave behind.

  2. I am also a deb. And I have a sister Susan. Six year breast cancer survivor. One year mets aliver. Also youngest of four. Married 28 years. Two beautiful daughters and two just as beautiful granddaughters and a grandson. 7,8 and 3😊. My house is no longer clean. How did I ever do it all?

  3. I have five brothers and am the only daughter. Yesterday was my 13th wedding anniversary; my love story with Mike is very similar to that of When Harry Met Sally. I have four stepchildren who I call The Bonuses; all are adults. Two grandchildren and another on the way. I have two labs who rule our house. They are my nursing staff on bad days. I ride horses and train in dressage; I have been able to keep this up, with some adjustments for energy levels – through over thirty chemo treatments – it is my mental health outlet.

My husband and I love to travel and cook. We have a tradition with the kids called Mock Thanksgiving the Saturday before Thanksgiving so they don’t have to worry about balancing various family members on that day. We all cherish it.

I appreciate your welcoming me into your circle even though my metastatic cancer is Uterine Papillary Serous Carcinoma, stage IVB. So much of what we are going through is very similar. I am a very positive person and enjoy life. I am a Thriver.
